It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy C. (Nolan) Lyons.

Loving wife, beloved mother and grandmother, who died on October 23, 2025 at the age of 83 in her Little Neck, New York home, surrounded by family and friends.

Doris was born in Dublin, Ireland and in her lifetime lived around the globe–including Iran, Saudi Arabia, London, and of course her final home, Little Neck.

A true world traveler, Doris loved meeting new people, enjoying food and culture, and making new friends everywhere she went. Almost everyone she met became a friend, and then family. She made lasting, close friendships with her neighbors. She brought warmth in her relationships, and she made others feel cared for, appreciated, and at ease.

Doris was most proud of her two sons, David and Liam, and her grandchildren, Liam, Luna, Fiona, Conall, Jade, Saoirse, and Ciaran.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Mary Nolan, her siblings Patrick, James, and Greta, her former husband Thomas Doherty, and her adoring husband James Lyons

In the words of a dear friend: “Not only blessed with the most vibrant of personalities, Doris was given to constant acts of kindness and decency–all performed with quiet dignity. Doris lived the Golden Rule, always treating others as she knew they should be, and epitomized what it meant to be a good neighbor. She had the unique ability to help everyone celebrate their best times, while also helping them endure their most difficult ones.”

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
