Uncle George- The years have really been going pretty fast. It's been about three years since you've left us. Everybody misses you, and time doesn't adequately help us deal with your absence. I hope you and dad are having a good time.

Who is George Lee? Saying that he was a such a great man is an understatement and how I'm grateful to have him in my life just doesn't seem to make a dent of how I truly feel about him. Let me just start off with what I'll miss about this guy who I call, my Papa George. I'll miss his big smile and that twinkle in his eyes as he welcomed me to his home. He usually will stand behind the door when i knock and jokingly shout "I'm not interested!" -as if I'm trying to sell him something. I'll miss the sound of his laughter when I tell him my daily experiences that surprisingly are mostly comical. I'll miss his cooking.. His incessant questioning of what I wanted for dinner when he knew I was coming over (I usually say oxtail soup or baked pork chops. ?). I'll even miss his stern voice when he's upset or his light cusses when watching a ballgame. ? I'll miss his gentle manner when he gave advices about my kids, work and even cooking! - advices that only a father can give. I'll miss his sense of humor... ahh yes indeed... The rolling of his eyes, facial expressions and hand gestures are quite hilarious! I want to share a story that happened just a couple of weeks before he passed. Laying on his hospital bed out of nowhere, came in a chaplain. Now mind you, at that time he was already weak, groggy and hardly talked. At the sight of the chaplain, he suddenly spoke and clearly said.. "I'm an old soldier. I'm not gonna die. Thanks for stopping by." - as if giving the chaplain who somewhat represented death, his cue to leave. ? Even towards the end of his life, he remained hilarious. As I read my sisters' posts that are truly the most precise statements - one which said "Papa George filled a void in our lives and made us complete.." I wonder to myself how blessed I am to be given a second chance of having this wonderful man to be my father in the truest sense of the word.

Part 2 Papa George, wherever you are.. I want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for loving my mother and us unconditionally and stepping up to the plate of being a dad to me and my sisters when you didn't have to... WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! You told the chaplain you are not going to die. And you're right - as you will forever live in the hearts of your family and friends whose lives you've touched... To everyone who is sharing our grief.. We thank you all and "thanks for stopping by?."

Uncle George has left a void that cannot be filled. There is no superlative on Earth that has not been used (or overused) in describing the type of person he was.
