Obituary for Ann Cavaseno
Ann Cavaseno passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the age of 101 years, 5 months and 19 days. She was a long-time resident of Little Neck, NY.
She was a lover of family, friends, music, dancing, flowers, travel…and especially food. Many of her recipes are cherished by friends and family. She had a curious mind and was always interested in what you had to say.
She is survived by a daughter, a son, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a sister and a niece.
Ann was born Concettina Marino in Manhattan on November 16, 1924, and lived the early part of her life in Brooklyn, NY, where she bore her first child, Vincent.
She and her husband moved to Queens in the early 1950s, where she gave birth to her other two children, JoAnn and Edward.
The family relocated to Little Neck in 1970 into a fine house with a large piece of property that allowed her to pursue her love of gardening on a grander scale. She loved her neighborhood and her neighbors were a very important part of her life.
Ann was a very social person and was a member of various clubs, including the Douglaston Women’s Club, The Douglaston Garden Club, and St. Kevin’s Women’s Club.
A great sadness in her life was the premature death of her son, Edward, in 2016.
She loved to travel and took many wonderful trips. Sicily. Paris. London. Mexico. Alaska. Hawaii. California. Colombia. Rome. Barcelona. And especially Florida, where she spent many winters with her sister and developed an entirely new network of friends. Their Pizza Parties were legendary.
But nothing was as important to her as her family, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. She lived to see all of her grandchildren marry and have families of their own.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a gift be made in her name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital)
