On July 31st, 2026, Brenda Georgia Clinton, of Floral Park, New York, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Brenda was born June 9th, 1941 in Toronto, Canada, to Audrey Chadwick Clinton and Delmar Clinton. She spent her early childhood swimming in the great lakes and helping with her family’s floral business. At age 19, she left the familiarity of her home to become a flight attendant for United Airlines. Brenda served countless people during her time working on the New York-to-Chicago airline route. After her years as a flight attendant, Brenda planted her roots and started a family of her own, giving birth to her two children and proudest legacy, Andrea and Adam. She and her family spent many summers visiting Canada at their cottage on Chesley Lake.
Brenda taught elementary school for Searingtown Elementary School, in the Herricks District. Setting the next generation up for a better future was one of her greatest joys. Brenda helped thousands of children on their educational journeys, many of whom are making their marks on society today. After many years of teaching, she retired her teacher hat and joined Friendship Force, a global group dedicated to seeing the world through home stays. Through their program, she traveled to every corner of the world, from Tokyo to Rio. Brenda loved company and often had friends and family along for the adventure; her favorite companion was always her beloved sister Audel.
Brenda shared a powerful bond with those she connected with. She was known to be a fiercely loyal friend who loved a day at the opera. Brenda’s passion for the arts and her love of performance are echoed throughout her family’s interests. There was never a moment when Brenda wanted to stop learning; she was always reading a new book, attending a museum, seeing a new production, or traveling somewhere she’d yet to go. But most of all, Brenda loved to love. She cherished her friends and family above all else, bringing them with her through her final moments.
Brenda Clinton’s life and legacy live on through her two children, Adam Michelini (Kimberly) and Andrea Von Amelunxen (Peter); grandson Gregory Andrew; her sister, Audel Tuft; nephew Christopher Tuft, niece Jocelyn Tuft Rogers, her sister in law Karen Donnelly; niece, Kate Donnelly; and her friends. Those who knew her will carry on her kindness and curiosity to shape the world into something she’d be proud of.
