Obituary Hilde Kuhls
Hilde Kuhls of Bayside, New York passed away peacefully after a long illness on September 6, 2026. She was 91 years old.
Hilde was born in Manhattan and grew up in Yorkville until she and her parents and brother moved to Little Neck, Queens.
Hilde worked at Dean Witter Reynolds for many years where she developed many friends who she stayed in contact with after her retirement.
Hilde was very special to the Connell family – she was truly family to them. Growing up in Yorkville, she became lifelong friends with Betty Connell. Hilde was with the Connells for every Christmas, family gatherings and summers in Montauk. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Hilde” to all of the Connell grandchildren.
The love of her life was Joseph McGowan (Joey) and they spent many years traveling and enjoying being with friends and family. Through Hilde’s relationship with Uncle Joey’s family, in particular with his older sister Marge (Bill) Clark, she was affectionately “Aunt Hilde” to all. She was very close with the Clark children, Charlotte {Bob}, Margaret {Jerry} and Bill Jr. as well as their 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandson to Charlotte and Bob. Special occasions like weddings, graduations communions, baptisms and holidays were always brighter with her presence.
She will be deeply missed by all.
