I have been greatly saddened by this tragedy. J.J. and I grew up together on 247th street in Little Neck. My house was attached to his Grandparent's. We attended St. Anastasia and often spent time with each other. We spent hours in the schoolyard playing basketball. J.J. played for the St. Anastasia's C.Y.O. basketball team. One time we were playing in the schoolyard and a priest came out and asked if we could serve as alterboys for a wedding that was taking place right then in the church. J.J. and I went up to the church and the priest gave us robes which we put over our basketball gear. We served as alterboys for the wedding on the spot. J.J. helped save those people wedding. He was a very shy and timid guy and did not open up to many people, but, he did to me. He was one of the nicest guys I ever met. I had only seen J.J. twice since moving to California in the 1970's. I regret not keeping in touch with him. I offer my condolences to my classmate, Kerry along with my old friends Kevin, Noreen and Catherine. Also, Christopher(who I never met). I will never forget J.J.
