Josefa (Fifi) Lafuente age 94 of Woodside, NY passed away peacefully on March 15, 2021 at Brandywine Assisted Living with her daughters at her side. Beloved wife of the late Francisco F. Lafuente. Devoted mother to daughter Susana Landa and her husband Joseph C. Landa of Douglaston, NY and her daughter Jackeline Lafuente Cooperman of Medway, MA. Loving Abuela to Joseph, Alexander and Daniel Landa of Douglaston, NY, Noah and Sofia Cooperman of Medway, MA. Blessed Bisabuela to Isabel Landa. Fifi was born in Havana, Cuba the only child of Claudio and Luisa Ramos. She was an elementary school teacher until she, her husband and daughter Susana fled to Spain from Cuba and shortly after in 1965, started a new life in Woodside, NY as a factory worker. Years later she and her husband worked in a foreign exchange bank from which they both retired. She then became a caregiver to her three eldest grandsons. She loved tending to all her grandchildren, making connections with old and new friends and long walks throughout her neighborhood. What she treasured the most was seeing her family grow and succeed proving that leaving Cuba was worth the sacrifice.
