She never wished to be weighed down and always wanted to live life to the fullest.
Mom was born in College Point, thanks to a local midwife. She is the fourth child of the Lorenz family: Brother John, Sister Anne, Sister Barbara, Mom, & Sister Rosemary.
Mom held various employment positions: candy counter girl in Woolworths, bak teller in College Point Savings, (where she and Dad met), Republic National Banl teller, Legal Secretary for Kramer, Secretary @ St. John's university Library Information Science, (which paid for Patti, Marianne, Billy, and Josephine to attend).
Mom loved nature and she loved Camping with the South Shore Injuns. Many weekends were spent sharing in the company of family and friends in places known as Cedar Point, Cathedral Pines, and Sears Bellows. We walked, talked, hiked, we fished, we swam in lakes, oceans, and pools, We made crafts, had White Elephant sales, square dances, parades, volleyball, fottball, kite flying, contests: egg toss, water balloons, spoon races, , and relay races. We celebrated everyone's birthdays, anniversary, & holiday; we celebrated to celebrate in sunshine and rain. We ate many shared meals of mountain pies, pot luck dinners, and campfire somores. We always returned home tired, a little dirty, but full of good times and fond memories.
Mom loved get togethers with family and friends: Kris Kringles, barbecues, parties, Weddings, showers, any reason to see eat other and catch up.
Mom loved celebrating our birthdays and making special cakes and dinners.
Mom loved us, she loved being with us to talk, to hug, to laugh, and I know she wants us to continue gathering; being together, being there for each other.
