Julie Pascuzzo passed away on March 21, 2022 at the age of 63. Julie had a distinguished career in Human Resources at both Northwell Health, where she was the Assistant Director and also at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children in Bayside. She was the beloved sister of MaryAnn Klein and cherished sister-in-law of Thomas Klein. She leaves behind many friends and extended family, and was loved by all. On May 11, 1958, Nancy and Julius Pascuzzo gave birth to a little girl they named, Julie (after her father). How fortunate this little girl was to have an older sister who always loved , protected and encouraged her and made her feel special. During high school each morning and afternoon they would walk to and from their beautiful home on third street and Sacred heart Academy. They said they never minded the trek and always met up with friends along the way. But, more importantly, I believe that during those daily strolls along Cathedral Avenue they forged a friendship and a bond with each other that will last forever. Upon graduating from Sacred Heart Julie attended Adelphi University. After a brief stint in retail, she began a thirty year career as the Assistant Director of Human Relations at Long Island Jewish Hospital and later at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children in Bayside. In this role she helped resolve grievances and many challenging personnel issues. Julie was always consistently honest, fair and willing to give a person a second chance. She was an individual who was non-judgmental and accepting and brought out the best in other people. She was a person you could always trust…she always kept a confidence and never revealed a secret…sometimes to Mary Ann’s consternation! Perhaps each of us is familiar with Mitch Albom’s book, Tuesdays with Morrie. In it, Albom recounts his conversations with his former Professor of Sociology at Brandeis, Morrie Schwartz, who, himself was struggling with A.L.S. Albom said that his weekly meetings with Morrie were like being in class once again, however, the title of this course was The Meaning of Life. The book is replete with Morrie’s trenchant insights into what is really important. On one occasion Morrie tells Mitch that “…The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in…Love is how you stay alive, even after you’ve gone.” Julie instinctively knew that and she always gave out love and through her love she will always be with us.
