Leo W. Zatarga of Little Neck, Queens passed away in Stamford, CT on Tuesday, August 3, 2022, just after reaching his 86th birthday. He was born August 1, 1936 in Long Island City, New York to the late Leo and Violet Zatarga. Leo was the oldest of 6 boys – Leo (d. 2022), Joseph (d. 1999), George (d. 2011), Mike of Boynton Beach FL, Ray (d. 2009), and Andy of Westchester NY. He was a father figure who started working at the age of 10, which made him particularly close to his mother, Violet, as the two of them kept their family together, with the help of their Catholic faith, through life’s challenges and obstacles. Leo was intelligent, driven, and meticulous as he was an architectural designer at Ebasco which put his talent of drawing to good use.  In his retirement years, Leo truly loved his areas of paradise; Leo would travel from Little Neck, Queens to his haven on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire for a few months back to Little Neck just to get ready for winters in Hawaii. He was always quite the collector, just like his brothers – from radios to CDs to DVDs to books to tools and gifts for others. Leo had a passion for building creative solutions, sharing his love of Hawaii, and listening to his music. A strong man, always with something to say, full of wit, and could tell stories about his upbringing and experiences for hours. Leo will be missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.
