William (Billy) Edwin Dykes IV, age 66, passed away unexpectedly, early in the morning of March 1, 2021 in Queens NY after a month-long battle with Covid-19. Billy grew up in the Lakeside, a cooperative community of Greenbelt, MD until the Dykes moved to Richmond, VA during his teenage years, where he first began his entrepreneurial endeavors. Billy was the first to make his way to California in pursuit of an acting and musical career, to be followed by most of his family. During his time in Southern California, he filed several patents, cut a record, produced concerts, and started the Up Top Sub Shop and Buffalo Construction Company, among many other ventures. Billy had a vest for living; to wit: always an enterprising spirit, an inventor, and never missing an opportunity to make you laugh. However, it was his foray into the sometimes unpredictable world of Rock N’ Roll that moved him to take up a religious life. He joined with his parents to start the Rose Scapular Corporation and began attending religious Vigils, where he discovered his true passion in life – serving the Church and devoting his life to Christ. For the past 35 years Billy lived in Flushing, NY where he was a champion for the cause of St. Michael’s World Apostolate. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Alice Dykes, and survived by his loving brothers and sisters: Peggy, Mike (Beverly), John, Mary (Buck), Kathy (John), Joe (Kathy) and Joanne, Aunts and Uncles, and a multitude of nieces and nephews, who fondly remember Uncle Billy and his witty jokes. Billy was very kind and considerate to everyone that had the good fortune to cross his path. He will be missed very much.
