William S. Black passed away on May 14 at the age of 74 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife Pat (nee Hagan) daughter Elizabeth, brother Walter(Tom), sisters-in-law Mary and Josephine, brothers-in-law Joe, Peter, Tom and David as well as 30 nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. A long time resident of Great Neck and Little neck. He was a volunteer fireman for 22 years at Manhasset Lakeville Co. #4, Off Ice Official for NY Islanders for 30 years, US Army Veteran and Active member of the American Legion Port Washington Post #509 and BPOE New Hyde Park- North Shore Lodge #2107 where he was an active member and Past State Vice President. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Steven Siller Tunnel to Tower Foundation would be appreciated. An Elks service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday 7PM.

As friends & neighbors, our memories are filled with many, many great times. When we married in 1976, bill was our best man & so he holds a very special place in our hearts. We looked forward to reuniting on a future US visit, & will look forward to seeing Pat & Liz. Think of you guys often. Our love & prayers join you at this time xoxo

I always found Uncle Bill to be pretty quiet at family functions, but years ago when I ran into him working security for Reuters -- and Reuters was my client -- I discovered an outgoing and funny side of him. The first time I ran into him I was quite pregnant with my daughter, Olivia. I gave him a hug and a kiss hello and after I left his colleagues wanted to know who the very pregnant woman was and how he knew me. Every time I met with my client I ran into Uncle Bill. We'd chat and laugh... It was a great opportunity to see a different side of him and I enjoyed getting to know him a little better there.

I'm Sorry for your Loss. You and your family will forever be in my Prayers.

Liz and Pat, I am so sorry for your loss. May your lifetime of good memories of your Dad/Bill lift you up in the hard times. There will be so many great (and probably funny) stories from all the people he touched--know that these are proof that he will always live on in those who knew him and loved him, and that he will always be with you.
